The Stewart platform consists of a bottom and top platform that are free to move in any direction, respectively to one another. The platforms are connected by six individually controlled actuators that form the legs of the Stewart platform. Accurately controlling its legs will enable full control and free movement of the platform. The performance of the Stewart platform is highly dependent on the performance of the individual legs. In many applications hydraulic or pneumatic actuators are used, their low bandwidth may result in limitations of the complete setup. The linear actuators by AE Group can be used in a Stewart platform for maximum performance due to the high bandwidth, power density and controllability.
